Announcing Online Passport Renewal
On September 18, 2024, The U.S. Department of State launched a new online passport renewal system. US Citizens can continue to print and mail a paper renewal application, but now have the option to complete, pay and submit a renewal application online.
Qualified applicants are adult passport holders whose passports have expired within the past five years or will expire in the coming year. It is not available for the renewal of children’s passports, for first-time passport applicants, for renewal applicants who live outside the United States, or for expedited applications.
Important to note, if you recently became a U.S. citizen as a result of Naturalization you must apply for a first-time U.S. passport in person at an authorized facility. However, future renewals can avail of this online program. See passport information page
