USCIS Fee Increase 10/2/2020

The Department of Homeland Security has announced that US Immigration fees will be adjusted on October 2, 2020.  The increases are not uniform and are estimated to cover the cost of adjudicating the different benefits. As a result, some fees will decrease, while others will increase.  The rule also removes certain fee exemptions, includes for the first time a fee for asylum applicants, and reduces fee waivers.  One of the most notable increases is the cost of applying for US citizenship will increase by 83% from $640 to $1170.   For green card applicants, supplemental work and travel permits that are currently bundled in the total green card filing fee, will be charged separately (at $490 and $585, respectively) after 10/2. For employers, increases will occur in the cost to file an H-1B petition +$100, an L-1 petition +$355, and an O-1 petition +$255.  A full list of application fees can be found online in the federal register .
