USCIS Increased Fee Rule TEMPORARILY ON HOLD

On September 29, 2020, two days before it was set to go into effect, a district court ordered that the USCIS Fee Rule cannot be immediately implemented. The new USCIS Fee Rule would have dramatically increased the cost of several applications, including notably Applications for Citizenship. The rule would also have required several new forms to be used in an updated version, with prior versions in use immediately suspended. Without grace periods on the forms, this would have no doubt led to chaos with many applicants unknowingly filing with expired versions of forms and having their cases rejected. These form changes are also on hold. It is uncertain how long this court order will be in effect. Accordingly, we urge any foreign nationals that plan to and are ready to file benefits to do so without delay.
