Expansion of Green Card Interviews
USCIS has announced that effective October 1, 2017, it will require far more applicants to attend in person interviews at district offices as a pre-condition to approval. Currently, all marriage and many family based green card applications are required to have in person interviews at district offices. However, most employment-based cases are decided at regional immigration offices, and have not required in person interviews. The addition of thousands of employment-based applications to the interview calendars at district offices will likely lead to far longer backlogs in an already over-burdened system. We anticipate a dramatic increase on wait times for all green card applicants.
