TPS for Honduras - decision on renewal/termination delayed

On November 6, 2017 the DHS announced it was not ready to make a decision on the extension or termination of TPS for Honduras.  It has indicated that it needs to collect further information before this determination is made.  Accordingly, the designation for Honduras is automatically extended for six months from the current January 5, 2018 date of expiration to the new expiration date of July 5, 2018.

Please be aware that on the same date DHS terminated TPS for Nicaragua, with a delayed termination date of 12 months. Thus, it is entirely possible that DHS will take the same action to terminate TPS for Honduras following this six month extension. If you currently hold TPS for Honduras, you should make plans to speak to an immigration attorney now about options should the program be terminated.
