Possible Presidential Proclamation Impacting Nonimmigrant Admissions to US

June 9, 2020:  The American Immigration Lawyers Association has advised its members of the possibility that the Trump Administration will issue a Presidential Proclamation, as early as next week. This Proclamation may require a 90-180-day delay in the issuance of certain nonimmigrant visas including H-1B, L1 and J1.  This would be done potentially with the justification that this is necessary in light of the weakened US economy. 

Foreign nationals that are now overseas or planned to travel to obtain a visa at a US Embassy, should closely monitor this news and contact immigration counsel to advise on the  impact on their case
